Chyngyz Torekulovich Aitmatov is a Kyrgyz writer and diplomat. His stories have been translated into more than 150 languages.
If you ask me who the main idols are in Kyrgyzstan, I will answer – Allah, Manas and Chyngyz Aitmatov. This small Central Asian country is very proud of its great figures. And indeed Chyngyz Aitmatov was one of them. In addition to his writing, he was also a diplomat and greatly influenced politics during his lifetime.
Chyngyz Aitmatov wrote in Russian, telling about the life of ordinary people in the post-war period. His story “And the day lasts longer than a century”, “The First Teacher”, “Jamila” - and all his works are heartfelt stories of incredible depth, the traces of which will remain for a long time after reading.
There is a house-museum of Chyngyz Aitmatov in Bishkek, which is now managed by his son Eldar Aitmatov. I visited this house and interviewed Eldar and the life of his great father.
